If you wish to view a description of our training sessions please read our Course Booklet

Our training strategy is designed with a view to engage, upskill and raise confidence of professionals in Sunderland who work with children, young people and their families. Our training offer will support our workforce in the short, mid and long term with their knowledge and skills, especially within each area of our joint strategic priorities.

External training opportunities are also offered throughout the year on an ad-hoc basis.

Key principles embedded within all SSCP training:

  1. To listen to and reflect the voice of the child and encourage opportunities for practitioners to embed this in practice
  2. To promote working with children, young people and their families through a trauma-informed lens
  3. Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement ensuring learning from local and national reviews is embedded in practice

These principles are underpinned by the Signs of Safety method of working with children, young people and their families in Sunderland. The aim is to help workers build positive relationships and work in partnership with children, and their important grown-ups by using a strengths-based, solution-focused questioning approach that is grounded in everyday lives of children.

All our training and learning is free of charge to any professional working with children, young people, and professionals throughout Sunderland.

As of January 2023 we have implemented an attendance policy. There is a potential charge for non-attendance so it is recommended that all practitioners read the policy prior to booking any sessions.
